Once a year, Bundall, Currumbin and Redlands come together for our internal championships —
and this year it's Redlands' turn to host, in the new gym.
This is an internal competition. Every kid on the mat trains at a Carlson Gracie gym.
They'll be matched against kids their own age and size, refereed properly, and cheered on by
a room full of people who know their name. For a lot of them it'll be their first competition ever —
and that's exactly who this day is built for.
Your child does not need competition experience. They'll be in a pool of four, matched on age and size, with coaches from their own gym there on the day.
Pools of four, round robin — every child fights all three others in their pool. No knockouts, nobody loses once and goes home early.
Walking out in front of a crowd and having a go — win or lose — changes how a kid sees themselves. That's the part they carry off the mat.
Jumping castles, superheroes, a BBQ lunch and the whole extended Carlson Gracie family in one room. Bring everyone.
It's a competition, but it's also a day out. Plan to stay.
The full running order is in Smoothcomp, so you can see where your child's pool is up to from your phone. We call everything out on the day too.
Open through the middle of the day, supervised, for the brothers and sisters as much as the competitors.
Two sessions — one mid-morning, one mid-afternoon. Bring your phone.
Steak sandwiches, sausages, and bacon, onion and cheese rolls. Run by our own dads. Cold drinks on sale.
Açai bowls and Zooper Doopers available all day. Highly recommended after a match.
On the podium outside, as each pool finishes — not saved for the end. Have your camera ready.
Indicative only — exact division times are confirmed once brackets are drawn after registrations close.
Kids are called to a holding area before their matches — please keep your competitor close and listening for their division.
Yes — and this is the best possible day to start. It's an internal competition, so every kid out there trains at a Carlson Gracie gym. They're matched by age and size, their own coaches are there on the day, and the room is full of familiar faces. First-timers are exactly who this event exists for.
Almost all of them are, including the ones who look like they aren't. Nerves are part of it — they're the reason the day is worth doing. Talk to your child's coach before the 25th; they'll have your kid ready. And a nervous kid who walks out anyway has already won the thing that matters.
All registrations go through Smoothcomp. Hit the register button on this page, create or log into your Smoothcomp account, and enter your child in the event. Registrations close Wednesday 21 October 2026 — we need the time to draw brackets, so there are no late entries.
$55 for your first child and $45 for every one after that. Two kids is $100, three is $145. Plenty of our families have two on the mats and we'd much rather see both of them compete than have you pick one.
Enter the code SIBLING at checkout for each child after the first — it takes $10 off that registration. Your first child pays the full $55. If the code doesn't apply, finish the registration anyway and let us know; we'll refund the difference rather than have you miss the cut-off.
Age and weight divisions are set in Smoothcomp and will be shown when you register. If your child falls near a cut-off, have a chat with their coach.
Two ways. All the timings and the running order are in Smoothcomp, so you can follow where your child's pool is up to on your phone through the day. And we'll have someone on the microphone calling pools forward all day, so you'll hear it as well. You don't need to stand at a mat all morning.
Check-in opens at 8:00am and competition starts at 9:00am. Aim to be on site well before your child's division. We'll have parking attendants directing traffic first thing in the morning — please follow them, it keeps the whole morning moving.
Absolutely — please do. That's half the point of the day. Jumping castles, superheroes and a BBQ lunch mean the non-competing siblings have plenty to do.
Three, guaranteed. Every child is put in a pool of four and fights all three of the others — round robin, no knockouts. Nobody travels across town, loses one match and goes home. Win or lose, your child gets three goes on the mat.
Pools run across four mats from 9:00am and the last matches finish at 3:00pm. Medals are presented on the podium outside as each pool finishes, so once your child's pool is done you're free to go — no waiting for a ceremony at the end. Bring chairs and snacks in case your pool runs later in the day.
Yes. Our own dads run a BBQ from 11:30am — steak sandwiches, sausages, and bacon, onion and cheese rolls — plus cold drinks, Zooper Doopers and açai bowls through the day. Cash and card details to be confirmed closer to the event.
Please do — we need referees, BBQ hands, jumping castle supervisors, parking attendants and a few superheroes. Speak to your gym's head coach, or email redlands@carlsongraciegc.com.au.
$55 for your first child, $45 for each brother or sister with code SIBLING. Registration takes a couple of minutes through Smoothcomp. Do it now, while you're thinking about it.
